Welcome to Minnesota/Dakotas ESOP!

The Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter provides the only regularly-scheduled opportunities in the region for ESOP networking with other employee owners and ESOP professionals. As part of The ESOP Association, the Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter has been selected three times as the Outstanding Chapter in the country and it’s because of the tremendous network we’ve created among the members of the Minnesota ESOP community.

The ESOP at Walsh Bishop was established on Dec. 31, 2007 and they went right to 100% for their 60+ employee owners.

Jodie Maruska, Team Leader states, "We are really excited about the opportunities the ESOP will provide to not only provide additional retirement benefits, but to help us to foster a culture of ownership that encourages us to bring value and excellent service to our clients."

"One exciting way in which we look forward to sharing news about our ESOP is through our new website, which features up to date news on our business, company and the industry in which we practice. We encourage everyone to check it out! " - www.walshbishop.com

Walsh Bishop has an internal ESOP Administration Committee that consists of six people, each representing separate departments of the company. Right now, the committee’s objectives are to 1) continue educating themselves about the ESOP and it’s implications; and 2) use their knowledge to educate fellow employee owners and to encourage and grow an active culture of ownership.

These new members are looking forward to opportunities to network with other ESOP companies and to learn from their experiences and insight. “We still have a lot to learn but have set a goal of June to start communicating to staff. We’re still working through how to do this specifically and have had some really great help through {members of the chapter} and others.” Other specific areas Walsh Bishop is working through include:

  1. What is the financial 'reality' of the ESOP, i.e., how many shares will be distributed to each individual, and how will that number be determined.
  2. Does our internal ESOP Administration Committee need a “charter” or mission statement?

Please join our chapter in welcoming these new members!
